Selling our house! Haha, thought we were going to say something else? Where are your minds going! Anyway, we have decided that it is time to sell our house, and move into a better neighborhood. Chris and I are just tired of going to get our mail and reading "colorful" graffiti each day...plus a whole list of other reasons to move.
So, please pray for us as we begin the whole process of getting our house ready to sell, as well as that we would find something in our price range in the Klein school district.
Evan is waking up, so Mom duty calls! Thanks for the prayers!
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."~Romans 8:28

Hurricane Ike
First of all, thank you to everyone who has called or tried to call to check on us throughout this ordeal. We appreciate all that everyone has offered, and we hope everyone is doing well. Our phones have been on the fritz, so I'm sorry that I haven't been able to let anyone know how we've been. (Texting seems to be the best way to get in touch with us for now).
Quick Update:
We fared pretty well during the hurricane. Chris, Evan and I slept at the top of our stairwell during the night...which we questioned several times as the house shook... Evan did soooo well that night. He eased our own fears of trees crashing down, breaking windows, and flying debris as we looked at his smiling face that night. We did end up losing part of our fence, but our wonderful neighbor put it back up the very next day. That was the extent of our property damage, and Chris and I are feeling very blessed as we our beginning to see pictures of Galveston and hearing other horror stories.
We are still without power, but my Dad brought us his generator on Thursday night so that we could have power for our fridge and freezer. That was nice to be able to sit underneathe a fan in our living room without worrying about people breaking in through our windows downstairs. (Thanks, Dad!).
Both of our families are doing well. My Mom had some downed pine trees, and about 2 dozen shingles on her roof that need to be replaced (she lives in Santa Fe), but is well other than that. And my Dad had part of his patio roof torn off, and was lucky not to have his house flooded (he lives in Texas City), but is doing well. Chris' Mom and Stepdad live near Hobby Airport, and had no damage except for the loss of their electricity. We are thankful that everyone is alright and safe!
Thank you for all of your prayers. We are just feeling blessed to all be together and safe, and lucky that we didn't have more damage (power would be nice, though!). It is pretty awesome getting to see what God can do even through unrelenting and impossible odds. Our neighborhood can be kind of scary sometimes, so neighbors don't necessarily talk on a regular basis. But as we look down the street and see front doors open, neighbors talking, and people sharing resources and helping one another, it makes us feel that God really can do anything and that He has a purpose for everything-even if we don't know what that purpose is right away.
we had some of the best food after the hurricane! I think we ate better than any normal week!
Please let us know if there is anything we can do for anyone. We don't have power, but we have a fridge that works, an extra bedroom, and a couch that are more than ready to welcome anyone into our house who needs it.

Ode to a Truck
There once a truck who was quicker than lightening
It turned on a dime and was cute in the warm Spring
The truck was too small, so it left after all,
And now we can ride in the backseat!
We got a great deal, on our new piece of steel,
and Evan is happier than ever.
We wish all the luck to the owner of our old truck,
and hope we buy another one never!
____________
Ok, that is my attempt at poetry, so humor me! We just traded in our old truck and really did get a great deal. We can attest that the Dave Ramsey play really does work, because we had enough in savings to just pay the truck off instead of financing! It is such a blessing to know that both Chris and I are on the same page as far as money goes. We are working hard to provide a secure future for our family, and we thank God for the people he has placed in our lives to help us with this venture. We have friends and family who are on the same path as us, at different stages, and we are praying for strength and perseverance for you all. It is not an easy road, but it is one that will find you and your family much happier at the end if you can stick with it! Call us if you ever need an encourager or someone to listen!
