Aiden is here! He arrived yesterday at 2:51pm, and is 7 lbs 12 oz, and 21 inches long!
Chris and I got the call from Nick at 4:30am Wednesday morning. It was so cute, because Chris was wide awake all of a sudden and full of energy! He started getting dressed, getting Evan's bag ready, and asking me why I was so slow to get ready (love you, honey!). We also tried to let Evan sleep as long as possible just in case we weren't able to get in touch with Chuck & Lynne, who had offered to watch him. We were finally ready to leave around 6am, went through Whataburger for some breakfast taquitos (let's face it, it's great to be the guy who isn't late, but brings breakfast!), dropped Evan off with Chuck & Lynne, went to Starbucks for Nick...and finally made it to the hospital.
After arriving at the hospital at 6:45am, Chris and I just tried to relax and enjoy the moment. We got to see Nick for a few seconds in the morning, and then ended up waiting with Bobby & Allison in the waiting room. We were doing great, hoping and praying that Alia was doing ok since we'd heard that she hadn't had any pain medicine. Then Nick texted us at 11:24 saying that they were starting to push! YEAH!!!! We all started making bets as to what time Aiden would be born and who could get the closest time...no one guess later than 12:30...
After a few hours with no news, we were all very worried. Bobby kept jumping up out of his seat every time he thought he saw Nick, which was every few minutes! Chris, Bobby, and Allison kept taking trips down the hallway every few minutes to see if they could tell what was going on, with no luck. We tried our hardest to just relax, but it was really hard sitting there knowing that Alia was in so much pain. We took it as a sign that something was "wrong" when we didn't get a text from Nick hour after hour. We thought she might be getting ready for a c-section, but knew Nick would tell us if that were going to happen. Actually, that made us worry even more because we knew Alia was still going through that. I just remember praying constantly that she was doing alright. I was pretty certain that Aiden would be just fine with the nurses monitoring him so closely, but I was just worried about Alia and what she was having to go through.
After 4 hours, we got the text saying Aiden had arrived, and we all jumped up and hollered with joy! We were able to see Nick in the hallway a few minutes later, and then to go on and see Alia and Aiden maybe 20 minutes later. All I have to say is that Alia is the strongest person I've ever met! And after all of that, she came out unscathed (well, comparatively!!!). Just a few bad memories of the pain, and a beautiful baby in her arms! God is good!!!!!!!!!!!! She did say that she probably wouldn't do that again next time if she could get away from that pain! But she is so strong, and pulled through with grace and strength!
We love all three of you guys! Thank you for letting us share in this special day; it was so cool to be apart of it all! We wish you the best, and hope that you can get lots of rest at the hospital before going home.
Aiden,
We have waited for 6 months for your arrival, and are so happy to finally have you here with us! You are the very picture of your mother, and are so alert and inquisitive! We can't wait for you to meet our son, and your cousin, Evan. We can envision many years of you two playing together and being really close. We can't wait to get to know you more! You are so lucky to have your parents, because they are both amazing people. We love you so much!
Uncle Chris, Aunt Kimmie, and Evan :)
