Today was the 5th Easter that Chris and I have celebrated together as a married couple, as well as our son Evan's 1st Easter. It was raining and muggy this morning during church, and at times it seemed as if God himself were conversing with us throughout the sermon through the thunder! It was supposed to rain all day long, but has turned out to be a beautiful and sunny day!
Chris is still playing in the orchestra at church (which is one of the things that I can't wait to get back to when I am home next year!), and had a solo this morning. He sounded AMAZING! See, we need to have more clarinet solos cause he rocked it out! (Haha, even though it was a beautiful slow song; i.e. 35 beats per minute!).
Chris' Mom, my Mom, as well as Chris' brother Bobby and his awesome girlfriend Allison, were able to drive up for church this morning to watch Nicky act as Jesus. The sermon was amazing and talked about raising our expectations as we look to the renewal and fresh start of what Easter represents.
Everyone, even Nick and Alia, were able to come over to our house today to celebrate Evan's 1st Easter. The Easter Bunny visited this morning and left Evan a basket filled with a Veggie Tales coloring book, jumbo crayons (which he only wants to put in his mouth), Disney alphabet cards, and eggs filled with m&m's and jelly beans. It was really cute to watch Evan shake the eggs. He eventually figured out that if he threw them on the floor, that the candy spilled out all over the floor! We had to scramble each time to pick up the pieces before he could stick them in his mouth (perfect choking size). We tried to keep Evan awake so that everyone could visit with him, but he didn't get to sleep at church like we had asked, and was delirious from lack of sleep. We were able to put him down around 4:00, and it is now 5:30! He was tired! We ate a pot roast that I cooked in the crock pot, and it turned out wonderfully, yum! We als
o ate fresh green beans (which I could live off of), salad, potatoes and carrots. It was a smorgasbord, for sure! Then we ate some yummy cup cakes that Mama D had made, as well my Dad's pecan pie, which is the best on the planet!
All in all, it was a great day. We love the church we go to, and the message today really made us remember what this holiday is really about, which is that Christ died for us to save us from our sin. We now have a brand new chance at life because Jesus died FOR us, and took the judgement of sin on our behalf. It was also great to rekindle relationships with family members that we don't get to see very often (or as often as we'd like). We also got to spend some more time and get to know Bobby's girlfriend, Allison, who is amazing.
Nick and Alia were sweet enough to pick out a really cute outfit for Evan's 1st Easter. When we tried to sit him down and take his picture, he started crying like crazy!
It turns out, all we needed to do was give him a treat to make him happy! (or at least the illusion of a treat...the bottle was empty!
Thank you, Aunt Alia and Uncle Nick for the awesome new clothes!
Thank you everyone for making this Easter special for us. We enjoyed spending time with ya'll, and hope that you had as much fun as we did! Happy Easter!

Sounds like a great day! Your description of your meal made me hungry!
I did not know that was Chris playing the clarinet. He did awesome! Evan is growing up so fast! We are moving out of the baby stage and into the toddler world too fast!
