Goodbye, Buttercup

After loving our dog, Buttercup, for almost 6 years, she has found a new home. It has taken about 5 months, but we found a loving family for both of our dogs. We took Buttercup halfway to San Antonio last Tuesday (July 20, 2010). We met in Schulenberg, and had a great time on the way up there and back. Nick & Alia were nice enough to watch both of the kids while Chris and I took BC so we could get up there and back faster. It was nice because the trip was really smooth, and Chris and I were able to eat a nice lunch, just the two of us.
Buttercup's new owners were very nice, also. We spent a few minutes getting to know them a little bit, and letting Buttercup get used to them. She barked at first, but calmed down after a few minutes, and even let her new owners walk her on the leash and give her a tummy rub. I can't tell you how relieved Chris and I were when she did well with them. She has a nervous personality, and we have been her only owners her whole life. She is very protective of us, which causes lots of barking. So, we were nervous that the new owners wouldn't like her. However, it all went very well!
It's kind of funny to say this, but it was an answered prayer. I was so nervous that our dogs wouldn't do well with other families since we were all that they had known. But God provided two PERFECT families for our dogs. They are going to be so happy in their new homes! Even though we will miss them, it is soooo very nice not having them in the house. We took a trip to the Valley this past weekend, and we didn't need to find a place for our dogs, or spend money to kennel them before we left. We were also able to move our dining table into the kitchen since the kennel is gone. It is WONDERFUL to have the entire table to eat on. Now we actually have a place to eat when company comes over, instead of tv trays all the time.

We are so grateful that our dogs have wonderful new homes where they will be happier.
